American Staffordshire Terrier - Rosko (been Here 5 Mths...why?)
Meet Rosko!!! He was turned into the shelter mid July by someone that had found him wondering around as a stray. He is a gorgeous brindle Am Staff mix. He is strong and a sweetheart (LOVES to give you kisses)?as are most bully breeds. He is good with other dogs and loves spending time with his human companions. He is more submissive when he has played with other female dogs at the shelter. Check out his video! Please consider the other dogs in your household before adding a new member. Bring your pets to the shelter and have them meet each other on neutral ground BEFORE bringing on new dog home. Rosko is only about a year and a half old..and he may require some basic training. He is very smart and is a quick learner...eager to please. Know that dogs are considered to be a pup until they are around 2 years old and that pups require a lot of time and patience on your part as the new owner. They require a lot of consistent training so make sure you are on board with the "puppy hood" responsibilities. Adopting a bully breed requires extra paper dogs work, but they are sure worth it. If interested in a "bully breed" speak with the manager and get the paper work that you will need in order to be approved to adopt. We love all of our dogs and want to make sure our "bully breeds" go to homes best suited for them. Please remember that ownership of a pet means you are their primary caregiver. It is an extra expense...vet bills, preventatives, and food. But they are sure worth it! Be sure you are 100% committed to having a new family member?and that is what they should be, a family member. Know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and that they multiply and can be fatal if not treated. Please make sure to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. Our normal hours are M-F: 10-1, 2-5 and Sat 10-2 and during the summer on Sundays from 11-3. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life...if you can not adopt come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER homes.
